Four dogs throw themselves into games with the kind of abandon only animals can manage. One trots proudly with a ball clamped firmly in jaws, already planning the next throw. Another launches upward, twisting mid-air to catch a flying disc with precise timing. A third carries a branch too large to be practical, shaking it side to side with obvious delight. The fourth crouches low to the ground, paws extended forward in invitation to chase. Energy radiates from each of them, wet noses, flicking tongues, tails that won’t stop moving. Toys litter the imaginary ground around them: sticks, balls, frisbees, whatever happens to spark joy. This is play at its purest, unmediated by rules or consequences.
