The Norway spruce tree features a dense arrangement of layered horizontal boughs that grow progressively wider toward the base. A short portion of the vertical trunk is visible at the very bottom beneath the lowest branches. The top of the tree tapers sharply into a pointed apex formed by closely packed branch tips.
